Book Review: The Spirit-Controlled Temperament

Thursday, September 29, 2011

One hobby of mine is reading. I'm very into books that teach you things and right now I am especially interested in personality books; ones that tell you why people are the way they are.

I just got done reading The Spirit-Controlled Temperament by Dr. Tim LaHaye. In summary, it is about how there are four different types of temperament. Choleric, Melancholy, Sanguine, and Phlegmatic. Typically, everyone has a blend of two of the temperaments. He gives descriptions of each one, it was very entertaining to find out which one I fit into. In the descriptions, he gives the strengths and weaknesses of each. Then, LaHaye gives hope to all of us that our weaknesses can be overcome, but only with the Holy Spirit. He breaks down what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit and how to overcome things like anger, fear, and depression. He talks about how these emotions hinder the Spirit's work in our lives.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, you should definitely check it out! Especially if you have wondered about the Holy Spirit or ever been confused about what He does. This book helped clear up a lot of things for me!
